1) Children category (under 12 years)

Program requirements:
Maximum duration: 15 minutes

Candidates are to present a minimum of two pieces, which are to be contrasting in styles and periods (Baroque, Classical, Romantic, 20th Century).

*All pieces must be performed from memory.

2) Junior category (under 17 years)

Program requirements:

Maximum duration: 25 minutes

a) One movement of a piano sonata or variations by W.A. Mozart, J. Haydn, L. van Beethoven, F. Schubert, M. Clementi or a Brilliant Sonata by D. Scarlatti;

b) One or more contrasting piano solo works.

*All pieces must be performed from memory.

3) Senior category (under 35 years)

Program requirements:

Preliminary Round Maximum duration: 15 minutes

a) Any Prelude & Fugue from The Well-Tempered Clavier (Book I or II) by J.S. Bach;

b) Any Etude by F. Liszt, F.Chopin, C. Debussy, Scriabin or S. Rachmaninoff;

c) Any other piece(s) of the candidate’s choice.

Final Round Maximum duration: 30 minutes

Each finalist may perform any piano solo works which were not performed in the Preliminary round.
